Preparation Of Tax Returns
It is impossible to quote an exact fee prior to preparing the return. We do try to give the client an estimated fee range after we have reviewed the client’s documents.
Each return is different, requiring different forms, calculations, tax law research, etc. After reviewing all of the client’s relevant paperwork we will arrive at a minimum estimated fee. The fee is subject to increase based on tax related information that comes to our attention after the initial consultation.
Representing Clients in Disputes with the IRS or the State of North Carolina
When we are hired to resolve a tax dispute/problem for a client we require a deposit. The amount of the deposit will be determined after we have reviewed your problem and agree to take your case. The minimum deposit for IRS or North Carolina tax problem cases is $2,500.00, payable in advance. Some matters, such as Offers In Compromise, may be billed at a one-time flat rate. Other matters, such as audit defense or collection appeals may be billed at the rate of up to $200 per hour or at a flat rate, depending on the circumstances. The average fee for resolving problems with the IRS is about $2,500 to $5,000.
A minimum fee estimate will be made at the time of the initial consultation and the minimum fee must be paid in advance. Any balance due will be payable before completion of the case. As a general rule we do not send bills. We do not accept cases unless there is a high probability that we will prevail over the government and the amount of tax you will save is more than the fee that we will charge.
Non-tax services will be billed at a pre-determined flat fee or at a rate of up to $200 per hour. Consultations with existing established clients by letter, fax, telephone, or email, will be billed at $200 per hour, minimum charge is for ¼ hour. New, or prospective clients must make an appointment and come to the office for a consultation unless they prepay by check or credit card, in that case we can consult by phone, fax, or letter.
